Introduction to Lithium Ore
Lithium is a metal widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals, glass, lubricants, and alloys; Exists in most modern electronic devices; And it is used in many chemical processing and manufacturing processes. It is also a key element in the transition to a low-carbon economy, as it is the core of manufacturing batteries that include energy storage systems and electric vehicle power. Due to the fact that lithium does not naturally exist as a natural element, its current production comes from natural saltwater and granite related pegmatite, where the concentration of lithium has been significantly higher than the average crustal abundance of 35 ± 11 ppm to economically extractable levels. Brine deposits are currently the main source of lithium (66%) with the largest reserves, but their geographical distribution is limited and they face multiple production challenges. Therefore, pegmatite deposits (26%) will still be an important source of lithium, as they are widely distributed globally and have high lithium concentrations.
